Pinecrest Florida Real Estate and More...: How To Protect Your Pinecrest Home While On Vacation

How To Protect Your Pinecrest Home While On Vacation

Vacation time is here!  But before you leave your Pinecrest home, please think about the following:

First of all, don’t go announcing your vacation plans on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, etc

Do not keep jewelry or other valuables in the house, preferably while you’re out of town they should be in a safe deposit box.

Let a good neighbor, friend or family member know what your vacation plans are and how to reach you in case of an emergency.

Give that person a key to the house and written instructions on how to turn your security system on and off.

Have this person pick up your mail and newspapers and also have them enter your house every few days to make sure there are no plumbing leaks, odd smells, etc.

Use programmable light timers inside to establish an appearance of occupancy; you might also consider putting a loud radio on a programmable timer.

Do not tell your pool maintenance company or your landscaping company you are going on vacation, but do make sure they stay on their maintenance schedules.

Ideally your exterior lights should have light sensors and motion detectors so that should someone approach your house at night the exterior lights will turn on automatically.

Depending on how long you will be gone, raise your thermostat to around 80, don’t turn your AC off completely or else you might risk mold issues.

Remember to close your drapes and blinds before leaving the house.

Turn your alarm system on when leave your home and make sure your system has a loud siren.

Enjoy Your Vacation!
