Last night was the Graduation Party for the inaugural class of the Pinecrest Citizens Academy. There were 11 members of this inaugural class, we met every Tuesday evening for 5 sessions; we all felt our time was very well spent. I personally enjoyed and learned something new in each and every session. It was very interesting to learn how the revenue is collected and disbursed, how the village council operates, the processes in the building, planning and public works departments, all the activities going on in the parks and gardens, and getting a very up close and personal behinds the scene tour of the police department. Each department head did a great job in presenting their information and in answering questions during the class discussion times.
Councilmembers joined Mayor Cindy Lerner, Village Manager Yocelyn Galiano Gomez and Village Clerk Guido Inguanzo in congratulating the inaugural class of the Pinecrest Citizens Academy at last nights’ party; certificates and pins were presented.
I would highly recommend this program to Pinecrest residents interested in learning more about how the Village of Pinecrest functions. This was a wonderful opportunity to meet, ask questions and speak with department heads and also to get to know some of your neighbors.
If you would like to participate in the next Pinecrest Citizens Academy, contact Guido Inguanzo, Village Clerk, by emailing him at email@example.com or you may call him at 305-234-2121.
